In an attempt to enter Jaramana, security forces engaged in a night battle with armed groups that support the outgoing President Bashar al-Assad.
Armed forces controlling Jaramana thwarted an attempt by a group of security personnel to enter the city. A public security patrol team intervened in the incident. During the clashes, one member of the Syrian security service was killed, one of the Syrian security forces was wounded. Jaramana is a city on the Ghouta plain just three kilometers southeast of the Syrian capital. The Druze mostly live here. The city is home to just under 115,000 residents, including about two thousand Assyrian refugees from Iraq. On March 1, two police officers, one of them an officer, were killed in Jaram. Several police officers were beaten. Syrian special forces fighters then blockaded the outskirts of Jaramana. They demanded that the local self-defense forces within five days to lay down their arms and extradite the killers to police officers. Druze elders from the southern Syrian province of As-Suwayda, who acted as negotiators in this conflict, are going to extradite the instigators of the shootout, reports Al Jazeera TV channel. Gunshots and explosions are still heard in the suburbs of Jaramana.
