In Kharkiv, employees of the territorial center of recruitment and social support (TCC, the name of military enlistment offices in Ukraine – approx. ed.) opened fire on the car, trying to forcibly mobilize a man.
In a video posted on the Telegram channel of the Strana.ua online publication, the woman said that 15 employees of the shopping center stopped the car in which her brother was, and demanded to show documents. During the conversation, one of the officers of the military commissar shot, after which the man fled, and the military commissars broke the windows in the car. “The police who arrived at the scene found a gun casing,” the publication said. Since February 2022 in Ukraine there is a general mobilization, which has been repeatedly extended. On May 18, 2024, a law on tightening mobilization came into force in the country, allowing to conscript hundreds of thousands more Ukrainians into the army. The authorities are taking measures to stop cases of evasion from military service, which is accompanied by forced mobilization and, according to Ukrainian media, leads to incidents of beating people in military enlistment offices. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in February the TCC managed to mobilize less than 28 thousand people, which is less than the losses of the APU for the month. On March 5, a court in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine issued a verdict against the acting military enlistment office, which mobilized a Russian for military service.
