Wide Maslenitsa was celebrated in the museum-reserve "Ostafyevo" . Peasants believed that the ashes from burned stuffed effigies scattered in the fields would bring a rich harvest. In the XXI century, the folk ritual has changed, but has not lost its importance. Burning effigy symbolizes the death of winter to spend it, guests are invited to choir to sing "gori-gori clearly so as not to go out" and make a cherished wish. Five minutes and the effigy is not burning, but smoldering.
