In the Volgograd research anti-plague Institute opened a modern laboratory

In the Volgograd region on March 10 cut a red ribbon in honor of the opening of a new laboratory complex in the regional research anti-plague Institute. The event was attended by the Governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov and the head of Rospotrebnadzor, chief state sanitary doctor of Russia Anna Popova. In video communication with Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova discussed the prospects for the development of the new site. One of the first modern facilities of the sanitary shield of Russia was put into operation in the Volgograd region. The region is located at the intersection of international transport and logistics corridors of the countries of the Asia-Pacific basin, Africa, the Middle East, the countries of the Black Sea and Volga-Caspian basins. The creation of a modern laboratory complex is an important part of the work to identify pathogens and prevent epidemics. We can counteract the spread of these diseases in the region and throughout the country, said Andrey Bocharov. With the advent of the new building, the laboratory area of the research institute has been increased by 50%. Research capacity has doubled to 500 samples per day. The laboratory is provided with modern ventilation and disinfection systems, special tambours-gateways and other protective complexes. “The new laboratory building is absolutely ready in both construction and operation. It is made according to the highest requirements of biological safety and is equipped with powerful modern equipment, mainly domestic. The staff is fully formed, said Anna Popova. The laboratory base is strengthened by a new modern unit of operational diagnosis of infectious diseases, it became possible to conduct research using rapid diagnostic methods in real time, develop new and improve existing drugs. A separate unit for virological research was created. The Volgograd Antiplague Research Institute is one of five in the country. Employees of the Institute provide assistance in complex anti-epidemic measures, monitor, carry out scientific research on infectious diseases. Specialized teams are able to respond quickly to natural and man-made emergencies. “Mobile teams of the Institute staff ensure the epidemiological well-being of the population in the Zaporozhye region in difficult conditions. Also, of course, the specialists of the Institute transfer their accumulated and valuable experience to young cadres, which is very important for training industry specialists.
