The progress of work on the Alley of Heroes in Volgograd was assessed by Governor Andrei Bocharov. During the working visit, the head of the region set a number of additional tasks. Most of the work on the territory from Lenin Avenue to the Square of Fallen Fighters has already been completed. The workers completely cleaned up the obelisk, built new retaining walls, replaced the destroyed elements, updated the power supply system and water supply, and planted conifers. Now the contractor performs concrete, updates the steps, facing the tombstone and modernizes gas supply. Pedestrian surfaces have been replaced by 90%. Later, the territory will be greened, lighted and equipped with benches. The total readiness of the territory is almost 80%. The head of the region said that most of the work will be completed in mid-April. “Works are proceeding in the main order. The facility was in a very difficult and difficult situation: I must say that if we had not decided to restore it, we could have largely lost this important place for our country, said Andrey Bocharov. In addition, the governor told about the transfer to Post No. 1 of the former building of the puppet theater on Lenin Avenue. The country’s first Post No. 1 appeared in Volgograd in 1965 and until recently was located on Pushkin Street, 14. The head of the region said that the room in which he is now, does not meet modern requirements.
