“Izvestia”: in Russia will develop a state rating of universities and colleges

Thus, an assessment of the real effectiveness of educational institutions will be given, experts say. Five thousand federal and regional universities and colleges will participate in the rating. “These are not surveys of graduates, not the publication of someone’s opinion, but objective and honest data obtained from various departments, about all graduates at once,” Elena Kuznetsova, director of the Yakov & Partners Research Institute, told the publication. The rating will take into account various life circumstances that may arise in the lives of young people, including moving to other regions of the Russian Federation, the birth of children and military service. Therefore, for the relevance of the data, the ranking will be compiled in accordance with the level of employment in the second year after graduation from the university or college. The rating will not take into account students who decided to continue their studies, disabled people of the 1st group, girls expecting a child or caring for children during graduation, as well as those who began working outside the Russian Federation, specify “Izvestia”. In general access, the rating will be available until June 15 of this year and then every year until April 1, so that applicants will be able to focus on it when choosing an educational institution. When comparing higher education institutions, professional training profiles will be taken into account: mathematical and natural sciences, social sciences, education and pedagogical sciences, etc. The ranking of colleges will be compiled in 29 areas: five departmental groups of colleges and 24 priority economic sectors, including robotics, nuclear, mining and others. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a number of measures to support students combining work with study. The President also demanded to improve the quality of paid admission to universities and to conduct a set of 2026 under the new rules.
