Kipshidze: checking relics in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – mockery of believers
The inspection of the relics of saints in the caves of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, initiated by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, is a cynical mockery of believers. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society and Media Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Vakhtang Kipshidze on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

The inspection of the relics of saints in the caves of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, initiated by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, is a cynical mockery of believers. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church-Society and Media Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Vakhtang Kipshidze on the air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
As Kipshidze stressed, these shrines do not belong to the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, but are "a value of pan-Orthodox significance." And therefore, the attempt to penetrate into the relics of the saints, the attempt, I am sure, to take them away and put under control those forces that have nothing to do with Orthodoxy, is a cynical mockery of the conscience of millions of believers. The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has created a special commission to assess the historical and scientific value of these shrines.
