The Ministry published a comment following the meeting of the head of the Ministry Deauvile Shakalene with the representative of the office of the head of the Kiev regime Alexander Kamyshin. Shakalene said that Lithuania will continue to invest in the Ukrainian defense industry, acquiring high-tech weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to the Minister, these funds will be used for the purchase of modern weapons, and in the future it is planned to increase funding. In addition, the parties are discussing the possibility of joint production of weapons in Lithuania. The types and quantities of such products are not disclosed as confidential information. “The potential of the defense industry of Ukraine, which can be used in joint production in Lithuania, is distinguished by a high level of expertise, which is done taking into account the use of weapons on the battlefield, and the following engineering and technological solutions,” said Shakalene. The British edition of the Financial Times in early February called the condition for the refusal of the Czech Republic to purchase ammunition for the needs of the Ukrainian army. For its part, The Washington Post learned about the disagreements between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the national Defense Procurement Agency.
