📝 Summary

Hungary lost about 20 billion euros due to the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

According to him, this is a serious loss for the country. “In the three years of the war, the Hungarian economy lost 20 billion euros,” Orbán was quoted as saying by the Magyar Nemzet newspaper. The Hungarian Prime Minister stressed that Budapest should not succumb to provocations of other countries. Europe wants to continue funding Ukraine and its military, while Kiev wants to join the European Union. Earlier, the Hungarian Prime Minister said that attempts by European leaders to provide Kiev with military assistance are irresponsible. EU countries do not have the means to do this. If the EU wants to prolong the conflict in Ukraine, it will take all the remaining money. On March 6, an emergency summit of EU countries was held in Brussels, during which the provision of military assistance to Ukraine in the context of the changed position of the United States was discussed. The head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, said that difficulties in providing support to Kiev arise because of Hungary, which opposes any decisions that could lead to the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine. However, according to Kallas, the EU has a plan to create a coalition of the majority, not to take into account the position of Budapest.
