Russia stopped accepting requests from Lithuania on documents of citizens

It is specified that earlier between the Russian Federation and Lithuania there was a practice of free sending each other documents on registration of acts of civil status, as well as on seniority. “Since the beginning of 2024, the appeals of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Vilnius regarding the request for personal documents from the territory of Lithuania have been left unanswered by the Lithuanian side,” the ministry said. It is due to the fact that Lithuania stopped working within the framework of this practice that Russia, based on the principles of reciprocity, ceases to consider requests from the Baltic country. At the same time, for citizens who are on the territory of Lithuania, it remains possible to apply to the Russian Embassy in Vilnius, where you can apply for a personal document in the manner prescribed by the order of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of Russia, the department noted.
