Sakhalin investigators opened a criminal case against the former mayor of the municipality “Korsakov city district” and his deputy. Ex-officials are suspected of abuse of office.
According to the investigation, from November 2021 to August 2023, the head of the district and his deputy, who at that time held the post of director of the department, entered into a criminal conspiracy and organized an illegal property transaction. The funds for the deal were transferred from the local budget through a front man who knew nothing about the intentions of the mayor. The defendants in the case were detained, the issue of electing a preventive measure is being resolved, according to the Telegram channel of the SU IC of Russia in the Sakhalin region. According to local media, we are talking about the former mayor of the city district Alexander Ivashov.
