One who reads the two main metaphors
When an author accuses philosophy of using metaphors, he simply admits that he does not understand either philosophy or metaphor. In this radio meeting, together with Vladislav Timkin, they read and discussed the essay of the Spanish philosopher Jose Ortega y Gasset “Two main metaphors”. A small work was written a century ago to the bicentennial of Kant, and we, following the author, tried to understand: what is a metaphor, what it serves, how it connects man and the world, how has the understanding of metaphor changed from the ancient Greeks to the present, and why, not understanding the creative power of metaphors, we deprive ourselves of reason and peace.
