📝 Summary

The man reading Siberia Chekhov

In 1890, Anton Pavlovich Chekhov travels across Russia to Sakhalin – he wanted to see how exiles live on the edge of the empire. The result of this trip was the book “Sakhalin Island”. Part of the journey to the east he described in a series of essays that were later called "From Siberia". Together with Vladislav Timkin we read and discussed these essays. Moreover, we talked about what pushes a thirty-year-old man to the unbearable work of the heart, how to be merciful among cattle, how to love those who are not capable of reciprocal love and how not to lose hope, knowing that little will change during your life.
