This Monday, together with Vladislav Timkin, began a great acquaintance with the book “Comments” by Georgy Adamovich, a literary critic, poet-acmeist and translator. Here is how V.N. Raspopin writes about him: Adamovich wrote these notes, or, if you like, an essay almost all his life, and he lived for a long time. He wrote, in fact, reflecting on several main themes for him. They are: Russia and the diaspora abroad, the writer and reader in exile, Russian literature and revolution, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy, Pushkin and Lermontov, Blok and Acmeists, the Parisian “note” and the “fatal question” about the very possibility of the existence of poetry in the world, as it became in the middle of the twentieth century. Slowly and effectively considered these issues and tried to collect the pattern of the twentieth century and Russia, as they were seen by the author.
