Partisan Paolo: in Italy honor the memory of Ivan Baranovsky

The Paolo Monument was needed at this point. A stone's throw away is the building of the former Carabinieri barracks, where Bozzi's guerrilla detachment went to resupply weapons. Paolo spoke German, so it occurred to him to change into a German uniform. Paolo's story is very similar to thousands of others. The Germans brought our prisoners to Italy in wagons. Ivan fled near Genoa when he learned that the lineup was being deployed to Germany. For a month he wandered the hills around Florence with his comrades, looking for partisans.
