The man’s name is Sergey, he was registered in Leningrad region, then in St. Petersburg. In 2023, he registered as an individual entrepreneur, and in 2024, when issuing a passport, he learned that he allegedly died 7 years ago. In May 2018, a man died in a hospital in the Leningrad region from poisoning with an unknown poison, presumably methadone. At the same time, the investigator found a passport belonging to Sergei. No criminal case was opened for lack of corpus delicti. The man was buried in the cemetery at the expense of the state. As it turned out, the deceased used Sergei’s passport, which he lost in 2014. The man claimed the loss of the document, and later received a new one. Through the Vyborg District Court, Sergey filed a lawsuit to establish the fact of being alive and amend the record of the death act. The court ordered the authorized bodies to exclude information about Sergei from the death certificate record, replacing everything with “Unknown”. A private definition in consequence is also directed, Lebedeva added.
