But Hesiod came, Sappho. Then in ancient Rome - Virgil, Catullus, Horace. It seemed that Russia – Pushkin died, a solemn wreath withered: poetry was poor. But already on the death of Pushkin writes a new great poet – Lermontov. And then (though they scolded, sometimes tried not to notice) – Tyutchev, Fet. God, what a luxury. And suddenly, the explosion is the Silver Age. Block, Akhmatova, Khlebnikov, Mandelstam. Well, maybe that's enough now. But no. Zabolotsky, Vvedensky, Kharms. Then the best of the best military generation: Jan Satunovskiy, Boris Slutsky, David Samoilov, many others. And then again the supernova explosion – Brodsky, Akhmadulina, Voznesensky, Okudzhava. And in the nineties - a new explosion. And now - rappers and just poets, habitually writing on paper. Poetry doesn't die. Poetry cannot die. She was born from the fire, from the muttering over the wound of primitive people. It continued with a song. She left the song. She's back in song again. Poetry is living water.
