The President noted that the trials suffered by Trufanov and his family were not easy, but they were overcome. âI would like to ask you to convey the best wishes to Alexander Trufanov, our citizen, his relatives in connection with his release from captivity. This became possible, among other things, thanks to the consistent policy of the Russian Federation on the Middle East settlement, which inspires the trust of many partners in the region and thanks to the goodwill of the Hamas leadership, Putin said. Chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar thanked the President for his efforts. He said Trufanov also conveyed words of gratitude. Alexander Trufanov previously served in the Israel Defense Forces. He is the son of Russian citizen Elena Trufanova, who was released last November thanks to efforts by Russian diplomats and the military. On February 15, Hamas released three Israeli hostages, including Trufanov.
