Putin suggested the United States consider a joint project for aluminum production.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this while answering questions from journalist Pavel Zarubin. The Russian leader explained that the plans for building a hydroelectric power station and organizing aluminum production in the Krasnoyarsk region date back to Soviet times. According to his opinion, the project will be "capital-intensive." "According to preliminary estimates, it cost or will cost around $15 billion in today's prices. But we can think about it," the president clarified. He also noted that aluminum production requires a large amount of energy. Additionally, hydroelectric power stations are a cheap and clean source of energy, added the Russian leader. The day before, President Vladimir Putin stated that some Russian and American companies are discussing economic projects as part of negotiations regarding Ukraine. He also mentioned that Russia is ready to sell around 2 million tons of aluminum to the United States if Washington opens its market.
