📝 Summary

The project “Roads of Victory” will continue the history of Vasily Dorofeev

What were the roads to victory for Soviet fighters! Winding, leading through impenetrable forests and swamps... And sometimes the roads were cut short by the terrible word for a warrior: "captive." But even in seemingly desperate situations, our Soviet soldiers found a way out. One of the incredible stories of salvation from fascist captivity told Lipchan Maxim Breev. His great-uncle Vasily Dorofeev went an outstanding way during the Great Patriotic War. He went to the front as a 20-year-old boy. A separate story is about how Vasily Dorofeev managed to get out of fascist captivity. This important episode in the life of Lipchan could easily become the basis for a real blockbuster about wartime. After all, surviving in captivity in those years was a huge rarity. But the way the old man told me about seemed to most of the prisoners not even terrible - disgusting. To escape, you had to ... dive into the sewer. Only two men out of three dozen prisoners of war dared to do this. Someone probably didn't believe the enemy henchman. For some, this method was unacceptable. Some people didn’t have the courage or strength to escape. And then the events developed like in the movie. In the morning, the Nazis seized two prisoners and realized that they had escaped. There's an alarm. They managed to return to the territory controlled by Soviet troops. Of course, they checked both soldiers literally under a microscope, but the fighters honorably passed all the checks and again went to fight for the Motherland. Vasily Dorofeev with honor and valor passed the military path - up to the Victory. A tanker in the spring of 1945 on the T-34 tank from April 24 to May 2 participated in the legendary storming of Berlin - the final part of the Berlin offensive. The Red Army captured the capital of Nazi Germany, although the defense of the city was carefully considered. “There was a terrible meat grinder,” recalled Vasily Dorofeev. Just think about it: in Berlin, the Germans created nine defense sectors - eight in circumference and one - the densest - in the center. The windows and doors of the houses turned into embrasures for firing. For defense worked underground structures and metro, observation posts, anti-aircraft complexes ... But the Soviet soldiers quickly advanced and rushed forward. Fights were fought on tanks, and hand-to-hand, and with the help of firearms. Before the attack, the assault detachments had to separate: some broke into buildings, and the second cleared the upper floors from snipers who had settled there. On April 30, our soldiers began fighting for the Reichstag. On the night of May 1, Soviet soldiers hoisted the Red Banner on the dome of the Reichstag. The losses of Soviet troops in the Berlin operation were great. 78,000 people were killed and missing. But the main goal was achieved: the millionth enemy group ceased to exist. Vasily Dorofeev met the Victory in Berlin. It was there, in May 1945, in a Berlin studio, and was made a memorable photo for his descendants – a tankman in military uniform cheerfully smiling from the picture. -
