Refugee Elena Makhatenko said that in the summer of 2024 in Novogrodivka (DPR) – before its liberation by Russian troops – were Germans in military uniform.
“They then fortified themselves, then just drove through, and also looked where they could strengthen themselves and stay,” she said. The Investigative Committee collects data on foreign mercenaries and military specialists fighting on the side of Ukraine. As for the information about the German military received from Elena Makhatenko, it is not yet known whether it was the personnel military of the Bundeswehr, or German mercenaries from the so-called Ukrainian international legion, seen in hostilities on other parts of the front – including in the Clock Yar. As a result of active actions of units of the grouping of troops "Center" the settlement of Novogrodivka in the Donetsk People's Republic, as reported earlier by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, was liberated on September 8, 2024.
