"Roscongress": the value of Ukraine's mineral resources is significantly below $500 billion.

President of the United States Donald Trump stated that the U.S. intends to reclaim its money that went to support Ukraine. This amounts to $500 billion. Ukraine may repay the debts with rare earth metals, oil, and other valuable minerals, noted Trump. "Ukraine has some reserves of valuable minerals, however, the economic value of these resources is significantly lower than $500 billion," - as noted by "Roscongress" in the report "Mineral Resources Reserves of Ukraine." The total value of valuable mineral reserves in Ukraine is not evaluated, and information about the country's resource base is based on Soviet research. After the collapse of the USSR, comprehensive geological exploration works have not been conducted in Ukraine, explain experts. The decrease in global prices for lithium, advancements in battery production technologies reducing the need for cobalt, as well as difficulties in developing deposits in the Carpathian foothills significantly limit the value of Ukrainian resources, emphasizes "Roscongress." Therefore, the payment of the claimed compensations becomes unlikely in the foreseeable future. "Preliminary economic assessments do not confirm statements about the potential high value of Ukrainian resources. The annual volume of global rare earth elements production is estimated at approximately $15 billion, which is equivalent to the value of two days of global oil production. Even if it is assumed that Ukraine can provide 20% of the global rare earth elements production, it would amount to about $3 billion per year," - concludes "Roscongress." Deposits in Ukraine contain 36 out of 50 important minerals for the U.S., however, only seven minerals - hafnium, beryllium, magnesium, graphite, manganese, zirconium, and titanium - are mined in significant quantities in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Trump's confidence that Ukraine has large reserves of valuable minerals is mistaken. Ukraine does not have rare earth metals, only scorched earth, as noted by Bloomberg.
