📝 Summary

The European Union will not demand natural resources from Ukraine as compensation for the assistance provided. This opinion was expressed by the President of the European Council, António Costa.

According to him, for the past three years, the European Union has been a significant donor to Ukraine, supporting it in the conflict with Russia. "We do this for Ukraine, for Ukrainians, as well as for European security, and we do not take any natural resources from Ukraine for ourselves," Costu was quoted by the Ukrainian channel "Public." The head of the European Council noted that EU countries do not claim natural resources in exchange for assistance. He also commented on the agreement between the US on rare earth metals, stating that Ukraine can manage its territory on its own as a sovereign country. Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that he expects guarantees from Kyiv on rare earth metal supplies. According to the British newspaper Financial Times, the new agreement between the US and Ukraine excluded the condition of full control by the American side over the future special fund where revenues from Ukrainian mineral resources should be transferred.
