Aluminum is now produced worldwide with coal anodes, but they burn quickly and emit 1.5 tons of carbon dioxide per tonne of metal. Inert anodes do not burn and instead of harmful emissions produce oxygen. “We are preparing to introduce this technology. It will be a real revolution. Russia is a real leader here, and it should remain a leader in this direction for as long as possible. That is, we not only remove CO2 emissions, we replace them with oxygen emissions. That is, these are no longer emissions – we generate oxygen, Gusev said.
