The sentence of Natalia Poluektova, a former translator at the Swiss Embassy in Moscow, remains unchanged. The second cassation court of general jurisdiction recognized the suspended term for the accused of fraud as legal, the press service of the instance reported.

The sentence of Natalia Poluektova, a former translator at the Swiss Embassy in Moscow, remains unchanged. The second cassation court of general jurisdiction recognized the suspended term for the accused of fraud as legal, the press service of the instance reported.
The prosecution believes that Poluektova for compensation provided the embassy with fake documents about medical procedures. However, the woman’s defense argues that the money, the theft of which she is accused, belonged to “a certain insurance company that is not state” – she did not declare claims against the former translator, and the Embassy, although recognized as the victim, this money did not own. In the case, according to lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky, there are other inconsistencies. The prosecution asked for 5 years of real time for the translator, the defense insisted on an acquittal and called the case fabricated: according to the lawyer, his client suffered because of an attempt to publicize the story of the alleged sexual harassment of the former Swiss Ambassador to Russia Yves Rossier. In March 2023, Poluektova was found guilty and sentenced to 4 years of probation. In addition, the translator must pay the embassy 4.89 million rubles in damages.
