The Investigative Committee of the Krasnoyarsk Territory opened a criminal case on the fact of lack of medicines for patients with diabetes

All medicines and medical devices necessary for residents of the region with diabetes mellitus should be provided with a preferential prescription. However, within three months, patients have to purchase them themselves. Insulin costs about three thousand rubles for a syringe, strip test - 700, sensors - from four thousand. Such a set for an adult will be enough for only a week and a half. In a month the amount will be more than 15 thousand rubles. The reason for these expenses was empty shelves in pharmacy warehouses. Ilya Zaitsev, Chairman of the Committee on Health Protection and Social Policy of the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory: What happened, we are now finding out and sent the relevant documents to the Ministry of health. I would like to note here that it is the Ministry of Health of the Krasnoyarsk Territory that purchases medical devices. The goods, which are purchased under the contract at the end of the year, only begins to arrive at the beginning of the year and usually, just in time for January 20, it is already in warehouses and begins to distribute. In recent years, frankly, I do not remember that we went to March, and the number of such appeals was still high, so I would still say that this year is special. Since the start of the year, doctors across the region have continued to prescribe referrals, but patients have ended up going to the waiting line. A week ago, the Investigative Committee became interested in the situation and conducted an inspection, and this week opened a criminal case on the negligence of officials in providing citizens with vital medicines. Yulia Arbuzova, senior assistant to the head of the GSU of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia: According to the investigation, in the period up to February 25, 2025, unidentified officials responsible for the drug supply of citizens in the Krasnoyarsk Territory improperly performed their duties. Thus, the needs and volume of medicines and medical devices necessary for citizens suffering from rare diseases for 2025 have not been determined. As a result, the procurement of drugs was carried out inappropriately, which led to the failure to provide patients with preferential essential medicines.” As part of the investigation of the criminal case, citizens suffering from diabetes and cystic fibrosis have already been received. The necessary investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
