The Russian Sambo Championship was held at the Sambo Palace, which was opened in Krasnodar last year. Exactly a year ago it was visited by Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. All this time the Palace is not empty and regularly hosts prestigious competitions. In November, the Russian Cup was held here, now the national championship. 640 athletes competed in Krasnodar for three days. They represented 61 regions of Russia. From the Krasnodar region participated 50 people. According to the results of the championship, Kuban sambists have five awards. Winners and prize-winners will be part of the Russian national team and will perform at the European Championship in Cyprus and the World Championship in Turkmenistan. “Sambo is an object of national pride, in this martial art the strength of spirit and philosophy of our people and great ancestors. Today it is one of the most popular sports in the Krasnodar region, it is engaged in 525 thousand schoolchildren and more than 9.5 thousand professional athletes. We are glad that our novice sambists have the opportunity to see the strongest athletes of the country live, said Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev. In the Krasnodar Territory, the formation of the regional Sambo development system is being completed. For this, the infrastructure is being developed - Martial Arts Centers are opening in each municipality, which unites the Sambo Palace in the City of Sports in Krasnodar.
