US mercenary given 23 years for invasion of Kursk region

On August 6, 2024, he invaded the Kursk region as part of the AFU. There, he carried out armed attacks on settlements, shelled Russian military and law enforcement officers, residential buildings, infrastructure facilities, and intimidated the local population. The foreigner was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia. The court sentenced Wertman to 23 years in prison. He will spend the first five years in prison, the rest in a high-security colony. He also confiscated 1.6 million rubles received as a mercenary.
