Georgian mercenary convicted in Russia for terrorist attack in Kursk region
The 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow sentenced Georgian mercenary Rati Burduli to 25 years in prison in absentia for invading the Kursk region in August 2024. Earlier, he was convicted in the DPR for mercenary activity, the Prosecutor Generalâs Office reported.

The 2nd Western District Military Court in Moscow sentenced Georgian mercenary Rati Burduli to 25 years in prison in absentia for invading the Kursk region in August 2024. Earlier, he was convicted in the DPR for mercenary activity, the Prosecutor Generalâs Office reported.
The court found that 30-year-old Burduli in the AFU units illegally invaded the territory of Russia. In the Kursk region, he was engaged in shelling residential buildings, Russian soldiers, intimidated civilians. The Georgian citizen was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia. The court sentenced Burduli to 25 years in prison, serving the first five years in prison and the rest in a strict regime colony. In October 2024, he was convicted by the DPR Supreme Court for mercenary activity, the Prosecutor Generalâs Office added.
