📝 Summary

The US Supreme Court temporarily upheld the decision of US leader Donald Trump to suspend foreign aid programs, Reuters reports.

Earlier, a federal court in the District of Columbia ruled to overturn the Trump administration’s decision to suspend foreign aid. After appealing the decision to a higher court, the Supreme Court suspended the lower body's ruling and temporarily upheld the Republican administration's decision to freeze all foreign aid programs. This is necessary so that the Supreme Court has time to gather all the evidence in the case and make a final decision. At the end of January 2025, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended all financial assistance programs, including Ukraine, for 90 days. Decisions on the continuation, modification or termination of programs will be made after the review, which will be carried out personally by the Secretary of State.
