The hero of the Great Patriotic War - Vasily Degtyarenko, despite his venerable age, remembers everything to the smallest details about his combat path. And today he actively meets with schoolchildren, talks with them about love for the Motherland. Vasily Degtyarenko was summoned to the ranks of the Red Army in the 43rd, in the midst of the Great Patriotic War. The veteran was barely 17 at the time. More than 80 years have passed, but he remembers those events to the smallest detail. His combat path Vasily Degtyarenko began in Belarus. He participated in the liberation of the Union Republic from the German invaders. Poland was part of the Second Belarusian Front. The veteran recalls that at this time there was one of the most tragic cases for him: as a result of an enemy tip, their company came under fire. From the first days of service, Vasily Degtyarenko showed courage and ingenuity. Therefore, the young soldier was assigned the most difficult combat tasks. Despite constant attacks and shelling by the fascists, the private always tried to ensure communication between the units of the Red Army. For valor and courage shown in battles, Vasily Degtyarenko was awarded numerous awards. These are the personal thanks of Commander-in-Chief Joseph Stalin, the medal for the liberation of Belarus, the Order of the Patriotic War of the second degree. The front-line soldier met the victory in Berlin. After the war, the veteran served another three years in Germany. Upon his return to his native republic in the 50th he was demobilized, but the case continued the same as at the front - he established a telephone connection. Today, the veteran is surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He often communicates with students, talks with them about defending the homeland.
