Successfully docked to it in manual mode and restored the operation of the station, making for this spacewalk. “The electricity ran out and communications stopped. I had to do something. Viktor Savinykh was born in 1940 in a peasant family in the Kirov region in a village with a beautiful Russian name Berezkina. The father probably thought that his son would work on the land. It was cold, there was no oxygen, there was excess carbon dioxide. And we had to solve all this, this question. And we successfully completed and restored this station with Dzhanibekov, and then it flew for a long time, said Viktor Savinykh, a Soviet cosmonaut pilot and twice Hero of the Soviet Union. It’s like, “I came, I rebuilt, I flew for a long time.” It was actually a feat. No one has done anything like that before. Savinykh and Dzhanibekov found a station lost in space, revived it and carried out a scientific program. He celebrates his 85th anniversary in his native university, where he was rector for many years, and today he is president of the university.
