According to him, Petrov was detained after arriving in Moldova from Turkey. "The Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of Gagauzia Viktor Petrov was detained at the Chisinau airport, in the arrival area, at border control," the statement said. Earlier, a similar incident occurred with the head of Gagauzia Yevgenia Gutsul, in respect of which, also after arriving from Istanbul, border police officers and the airport conducted an in-depth check. Other representatives of the leadership of the autonomy, including the chairman of the Gagauz parliament Dmitry Konstantinov, faced similar situations. Gutsul said that the problems when crossing the border for her and her supporters began after trips to Russia. We will remind, after the victory in the elections Yevgenia Gutsul said that she wants to strengthen relations between Gagauzia and Russia and criticized the anti-Russian policy of Chisinau. Moldovan authorities tried to declare the elections illegal, but the parliament expressed solidarity with the new leader. In response, Moldovan President Maia Sandu refused to sign a decree confirming Yevgenia Gutsul as a member of the government of the republic, despite the requirement of the law.
