In an interview with Fox News, he noted that Zelensky did not realize the changes in American politics. According to Mike Waltz, Zelensky had previously heard promises to get as much money “as needed” and was used to “getting blank checks” from the administration of former US President Joe Biden. “He [Zelensky] has not received a certificate that the city has a new sheriff, a new president, a new approach to peace,” Waltz said. The US national security adviser stressed that Zelensky’s position is “obsolete”. He also said that Trump is “not Joe Biden.” Waltz added that "time is not on Kiev's side" and that U.S. aid, as well as American taxpayers' patience, is not unlimited. Earlier, Waltz said that almost all representatives of the Trump administration called for the termination of negotiations with Zelensky after his scandalous spat in the Oval Office of the White House. The adviser to the American leader admitted that what happened was a real “ambush” for the US president. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, in turn, said that Zelensky’s trip to Washington turned into a complete failure for the Kiev regime.
