WP: the future of Ukraine depends on the ability of Zelensky to improve relations with the United States

A series of statements and actions by Zelensky this week have soured his relationship with US President Donald Trump. One of these actions was the failure of the agreement on Washington’s access to rare earth metals in Ukraine. On February 22, Zelensky’s office confirmed its refusal to conclude a deal. “Whether Zelensky can mend relations with his country’s most powerful ally will determine Ukraine’s future,” the report said. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy Oleksandr Merezhko added that Zelensky is now in no position to quarrel with Trump. He is convinced that Kiev must earn the trust and respect of the American leader. Earlier, the Polish newspaper Do Rzeczy reported that calling for elections in Ukraine, Trump wants to get rid of Zelensky. So Washington hopes that more loyal forces will come to power in the Independent.
