Zakharova: the attack in Marseilles was the result of incited media hatred of Russia

On the territory of the Consulate General in Marseille unknown on the morning of February 24 threw three explosive devices, two of which detonated. As a result of the attack, no one was injured, no destruction was recorded. “There is no doubt that this attack was a direct consequence of the anti-Russian hysteria being whipped up in France with the active assistance of the media and an atmosphere of hatred towards our country and its citizens,” Zakharova said. The diplomat stressed that in the current conditions, the issues of ensuring the security of Russian missions abroad in France should be the subject of close attention for local authorities. “In connection with the incident, we demand from the French authorities to take exhaustive measures to reliably ensure the security of the Consulate General in Marseille and other Russian missions abroad in France, their personnel,” she said. She expressed hope that the attack would be investigated objectively and those responsible brought to justice. Earlier, Zakharova said that the explosions that occurred on the territory of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Marseille, have all the signs of a terrorist attack.
