A citizen of one of the countries of East Asia was accused of smuggling timber for almost 50 million rubles, the press service of the Trans-Baikal LU MIA on transport reported.
Investigators believe that the 52-year-old man organized the smuggling of 6,000 cubic meters of timber worth more than 49 million rubles. He has previously had experience in exporting resources. A few years ago, a man involved two Russians in a criminal group. One of them became a fake director of the company, having registered in this capacity and received all the necessary documents, including an electronic signature. Then the accused, together with an accomplice, signed contracts with companies from a neighboring state for the supply of pine and deciduous timber, which was declared as untreated wood, the press service of the department reports. The pseudo-director of the company is accused under paragraph 2 of Art. 173.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal creation of a legal entity), and a foreign citizen under Part 3 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of strategically important resources). The third member of the community cooperated with the investigation, materials in relation to it were allocated to a separate proceeding. The activities of the organization are terminated.
