The 16th package of sanctions was adopted by the European Union on February 24, 2025. Restrictions affected 48 individuals, among them – actor Mikhail Galustyan, chess player Sergey Karyakin and TV presenter Julia Baranovskaya. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the EU was ready to work on the 17th package of sanctions.
