📝 Summary

In Magadan, the regional children's exhibition-competition of visual and decorative-applied creativity "Koechidek" has opened. The organizer is the Center for Folk Arts and Crafts of the Educational Creative Association of Culture.

Marina Lukina has been working as a methodologist at the Center for Folk Crafts and Crafts since last year. For the first time, she had the opportunity to observe the process in which the jury evaluated the participants' works. She says that their discussions helped her to fill in her knowledge in some areas of creativity. "There were a lot of works at this exhibition, so it seemed very fair and just to me, with a strong emphasis on northern themes. That is, patterns, ornaments, everyday life, originality," noted Marina Lukina, the leading methodologist of the Center for Folk Arts and Crafts of the Educational Creative Association of Culture. The chairman of the competition commission was the Honored Artist of Russia, Vladimir Myagkov. He and two other jury members had to evaluate 190 works. Of these, they selected the best 45. The main goal of the regional competition "Koechidek" is to preserve the traditions and culture of the indigenous peoples of the North. After the expert evaluation, all the works became part of a large exhibition. Students from the Khasyn Center for Children's Creativity sent this furry northern amulet called Ataki to the exhibition. In the Even language, it translates as a spider. It is believed that if this insect gets into a dwelling, the owner will have great luck. About two hundred residents of Kolyma aged 7 to 18 took part in the competition. Masters competed in three age categories in five nominations: traditional crafts, visual arts, dolls in the costumes of the peoples of the North, modern decorative and applied arts, and artistic panels. The most competitive group was the one aged 10 to 13. In some nominations, up to 60 people competed for first place. "This exhibition has been held on the territory since 2001, that is, for 24 years. It is held once every two years. This exhibition is both exciting and joyful for us. Exciting because thematic exhibitions require certain knowledge from the teacher and skills from the children," said Elena Berezhnaya, the head of the Center for Folk Arts and Crafts of the Educational Creative Association of Culture. This year, children painted not only with brushes and paints. Two participants created their paintings using a computer pen. Other masters used natural materials such as fur, stones, shells, and tree branches. "We have a wooden deer that is made entirely of natural wood, and the jury specifically noted this exhibit because the northern peoples also had crafts involving wood. They built sleds, toys for their children, and this is one of the options," said Tatiana Starenchenko, a methodologist at the Center for Folk Arts and Crafts of the Educational Creative Association of Culture. Anyone interested can see the creativity of young residents of Kolyma. The exhibition is open until March 14. The exposition is located at the Center for Folk Crafts and Crafts at 11 Proletarskaya Street in Magadan.
