The opening of the Ice Palace in Nalchik has already been called the beginning of a new era in the sports life of the region. The traditional red ribbon was cut by the Head of Kabardino-Balkaria Kazbek Kokov and a State Duma deputy, three-time Olympic champion in figure skating Irina Rodnina. The grand opening was timed to the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland. The ceremony began with the performance of the national anthems of Russia and Kabardino-Balkaria. The first full-fledged ice arena in Kabardino-Balkaria appeared thanks to the federal project “Sport is the norm of life”. This is part of the national project “Demography”. The area of the Ice Palace is about four thousand square meters. It was built in the rapidly developing microdistrict "Free Aul" on the coastal territory of the Nalchik River near the "Sunny City" and the Nalchik sports complex. On the first floor of the Center there is a skating rink measuring 28 by 56 meters, on the second there are training rooms: gyms for fitness and individual strength training, a competition area and a hall with a lift. On the ice rink with artificial ice at the same time can be about a hundred people. The stands can accommodate over 300 spectators. A festive concert was prepared for the ceremony. Vocal numbers were performed by famous artists of Kabardino-Balkaria. The first students of the sports school of winter sports of Vladikavkaz came to the ice of the new arena with a demonstration program. The audience watched the game with interest and enjoyed the atmosphere of the sports festival. The Ice Palace has all the conditions for holding competitions not only of the republican, but also of the interregional and all-Russian level. New sports events and achievements residents are looking forward to.
