According to Schmidt, the leaders of some German parties after the elections do not keep the promises made “literally a couple of days ago.” It is possible that through the democratic efforts of the United States and the Russian Federation the Ukrainian conflict will be resolved. All these hawkish statements of Merz are not yet implemented. I do not see the danger of further escalation by Germany, he said. In December, Merz promised to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with long-range Taurus missiles in close cooperation with the United States.
