It is also important to check the quality of the print – logos should be clear and the text should match the original. Dim inscriptions and traces of ink on contact often indicate a forgery. “Touch the packaging material. If it is too thin or easy to mutilate, then it is most likely a fake product. Extremely typical is the situation when the original product has matte packaging, and the fake has shiny glossy, Balagurov told Lenta.ru, recommending also to check the seams and gluings of the package. In addition, instead of high-quality holograms on fakes, there are often simple shiny stickers. Fake excise stamps are easily distinguishable: the golden stripe that must be pulled out is usually simply printed. He stressed the importance of checking barcodes and expiration dates. Barcodes must be legible and match the country of origin, and the serial number can be checked on official websites or in special applications. Balagurov noted that fraudsters often misplace barcodes or use the wrong date format. According to him, the most reliable and difficult for counterfeiting are polymer packaging and glass products. Earlier it was reported that in Russian stores, including large chains "Dixy", "Magnit", "Svetofor" and "O'KEY", counterfeit oil and cottage cheese were identified. In the production of counterfeits were seen 14 companies. Earlier, cases of bottling fake soda under well-known brands were identified.
