In Paris, the 50th ceremony of awarding the French national film award “Cesar” was held. The best film of 2024, according to academics, was the musical by Jacques Odiard “Emilia Perez” . In total, this tape received seven awards, including prizes for best director and camera work, original music and adapted script, visual and sound effects, according to Le Figaro. Laureates of the best actor went to Karim Lecle, who starred in the film Arnault and Jean-Marie Larieux “Novel about Jim”. The best actress was named Afsia Erzi, who played in Stefan Demoustier’s crime drama Borgo. The new film adaptation of Dumas’ novel “The Count of Monte Cristo”, which claimed the main French film award in 14 nominations, received only two “technical” awards – for the best scenery and costumes. “Cesar” for the best animated film was awarded “Flow” by Latvian animator Gints Zilbalodis. The championship among foreign films was awarded to the historical drama “Zone of Interest” by the British Jonathan Glaser, who last year won an Oscar in the same category. Honorary Cesar Awards were presented to Hollywood star Julia Roberts and French director with Greek roots Costa Gavras.
