The Baroque Festival Orchestra is specially assembled for this project. Musicians play on exact copies of instruments of the XVIII century.

On Handel’s birthday, the Zaryadye Hall opened the Moscow Baroque Festival, which will last until the end of March. The orchestra led by German conductor Jörn Boysen performed Handel’s famous “Music on Water”. The first concert was attended by Jennet Arlt. The dates for the festival were chosen not by chance: March 1685 gave the world two composers: Bach and Handel. Although they never met, they both became recognized geniuses of the Baroque era. “Despite its complexity and ambiguity for the people who lived then, it was an incredibly productive, prolific, bright, bright era,” said Ivan Rudin, General Director of the Zaryadye Concert Hall, Honored Artist of Russia. The first concert begins with the work of Georg Friedrich Handel, in the program one of the most famous works is the Suite “Music on Water”. The composer wrote it especially for the river walk of King George I. Following the monarch’s boat, barques with musicians sailed along the Thames, and the sounds of the suite accompanied him throughout the journey. Jorn Boysen has a harpsichord instead of a conductor's console: this evening he conducts and plays simultaneously. “We are not on the water today, thank God it would be very cold. And that, by the way, would be an acoustic disaster. I don't know how it went at that time with the low temperature and the high humidity, but anyway, I think the public can feel like tonight the King of England for whom this music is performed. If Handel played here, I can imagine how it would sound, said conductor Jorn Boysen. The Baroque Festival Orchestra is specially assembled for this project. Musicians play exact copies of the instruments of the XVIII century – those for which the works of Bach and Handel were originally created. In the hands of Philip Nodel – baroque oboe, his sound, compared to the classical instrument, softer and warmer. “It is broader, rather about merging with other instruments. It was invented for this purpose to play together with strings and receive a general sound, as they now say, a special, baroque one. This Lully invented at the court of Louis XIV, said oboeist Philip Nodel. Dilyara Idrisova specializes in Baroque music, she is even called the princess of Baroque. The concert program includes arias from Handel’s oratorios, thanks to which the Bashkir singer conquered the Russian and European audience. "Not because I'm a princess, but because I've mostly had soprano princesses in Handel's operas." Why Handel's music? Probably, because it is incredibly beautiful, the depth of this music is simply amazing, said opera singer Dilyara Idrisova. The festival kicks off on Handel's birthday and ends on Bach's birthday, between these dates 25 days and 25 concerts dedicated to Baroque music.
