📝 Summary

Consumer portal Verivox estimated that residents of Germany pay for electricity by almost a third more than in 2021, writes the Agency DPA.

As the portal found out, if in 2021 the average family of three people in Germany paid for electricity 4,121 euros per year, now – an average of 5,407 euros, or 31% more. Heating costs increased even more – an average of 61%. “In addition to the increase in procurement costs, the increase in prices is due to higher tariffs on gas networks and higher prices for carbon dioxide emissions from the use of fossil fuels,” the report said. So, furnace fuel increased in price by about 35%. Diesel fuel (by 21%) and gasoline (by 15%) rose in price, the research center found. According to Verivox, the increase in energy prices is likely to continue. In April last year, statistics reported that for four years, prices for bakery products in Germany increased by 34.4%. The main reason for this situation was the rise in prices for energy and raw materials. In January, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, admitted that the rejection of cheap energy resources from Russia has cost the West too much, Europe has lost competitiveness.
