"To the Federal Antimonopoly Service: to establish for passengers - citizens of the Russian Federation aged 10 to 18 years a preferential coefficient of 0.5 to the tariffs for the transportation of an adult passenger by public railway transport in domestic communication in long-distance trains of all categories (except for high-speed trains) in springboard, common cars and wagons of the 2nd and 3rd classes in motor wagon rolling stock," the document says. The new rules apply to all categories of trains, except high-speed, and include seat-card, common cars and cars of the second and third classes. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) should set a preferential coefficient of 0.5 for the transportation of children in this age range. Earlier, the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov said that the new tariff system will come into force from January 1, 2026. The Ministry of Economic Development predicts an increase in tariffs by 11.4% in 2026 and 5.9% in 2027. At the end of 2024, Aeroflot Airlines announced that a 50 percent discount will be introduced for children aged 2 to 12 years when buying tickets with a departure date after January 1, 2025. At the same time, the head of Rosaviatsiya Dmitry Yadrov said that air carriers sold more than 360,000 children's tickets with a 50% discount.
