According to the press service of the holding, the creation of a cloned bull-producer is profitable, since it will allow you to receive a multimillion-dollar profit through the sale of seed. The milk production of cloned cows will not quickly recoup the cost of their creation. “The cloned bull will be the first in Russia,” the press service said. Specialists selected for cloning two bulls-producers of the breed jersey and Hereford. The laboratory’s cryobank already stores 170 embryos of each animal. A year ago on the farm of the enterprise "Dawn" in the Krasnodar region with the help of the method of manual cloning was born the first clone - the cow Star. It is a copy of the Holstein animal breed. Her weight is 800 kilograms, during her life she brought seven healthy calves and gave 18 tons of milk per year (with an average of 10-11 tons). During the first year of life, the star gained 523 kilograms, which is 200 kilograms more than the weight of her peers. “The idea of cloning a record-breaking cow emerged as a response to the current challenges facing modern animal husbandry. <...> This technology can become a key tool in achieving sustainable and highly efficient livestock breeding in Russia, said Victoria Yurchenko, Head of the Theory of Solving Inventive Problems at Progress Agro Group.
