A commemorative rally was held in Severomorsk today. It is dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the birth of deck pilot Hero of Russia Major General Timur Avtandilovich Apakidze. The event was held near the monument to the legendary pilot with the participation of military personnel of the mixed aviation corps. About it GTRK "Murman" reported in the press service of the Northern fleet. Today we have gathered here to honor the memory of an outstanding man - "pilot from God", Major General, Hero of the Russian Federation Timur Avtandilovich Apakidze. He really made a huge contribution to the development of naval fighter aircraft of the Russian Navy, becoming the first combat pilots to land on the deck of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. This is a man who loved life, loved his family, loved children and was selflessly devoted to aviation and his homeland. The memory of him will forever remain in our hearts, said Lieutenant General Alexander Otroshchenko, commander of the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet. According to tradition, red carnations lay down at the foot of the bust of pilot Timur Apakidze. “The event was another reminder that heroes do not die as long as their memory is alive. Timur Apakidze will forever remain in the hearts of those who value courage, honor and loyalty to duty, the press service of the fleet said.
