The former head of the main Directorate of personnel of the Ministry of defense of the Russian Federation Yuri Kuznetsov refused the services of two lawyers, said one of the dismissed.
The general is accused of receiving a bribe for assistance in concluding a state contract for the provision of hotel services. According to the investigation, Kuznetsov received from the entrepreneur Lev Martirosyan a land plot and a house in Krasnodar. In return, he organized the conclusion of state contracts and contracts for the provision of hotel services for a total amount of over 372 million rubles. Now Kuznetsov is changing the line of defense. “The agreement with Kuznetsov was terminated, we no longer represent his interests,” the dismissed lawyer told RIA Novosti. A criminal case was initiated against Kuznetsov under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale), he was arrested by a military court in mid-May last year. Martirosyan is charged under Part 5 of Art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe in an especially large amount). Recently, the Moscow City Court rejected his appeal, leaving the businessman in jail until April 11.
