📝 Summary
The Samara Regional Court sent complaints against the sentence of singer Eduard Charlotte (listed in Russia as a terrorist and extremist) to the Fourth Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Nizhny Novgorod.
At the end of January, the prosecutor’s office of the Samara region demanded to cancel the sentence of the singer, handed down on December 27, 2024. The department considered him soft and urged to review the case by a different composition of the court. At the same time, the appeal against the sentence was filed by the defense of the artist. The court explained that after that it took time, for which the parties attached various documents and petitions to the case. “The Charlotte case was sent to the court of appeal in Nizhny Novgorod,” the representative of the Samara court said in an interview with TASS. On December 27, the Samara regional court found the artist guilty under articles on the rehabilitation of Nazism and violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion and sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison in a colony-settlement. At the same time, the prosecution requested that he be sentenced to 7 years and 5 months in a general regime colony.
